The line chart illustrates the number of participants in various activities at a social center in Melbourne, Australia, over the years 2000 to 2020.

Overall, the data reveals that participation in all activities generally increased, except for martial arts and amateur drama. The film club consistently had the most participants, while table tennis showed the greatest growth.

In 2000, the film club had 64 participants, which slightly decreased to 60 in 2010 before rebounding to 65 by the end of the period. Martial arts participation remained relatively steady, starting at 38 participants, peaking at 39 in 2010, and concluding at 37.

The other activities began with lower participation numbers: 27 for amateur drama, 18 for table tennis, and 0 for musical performances, as they were not available initially. Over the next decade, amateur drama saw a decline, dropping to just 5 participants by 2020. Conversely, table tennis experienced substantial growth, reaching 52 participants by the end of the period. Musical performances, introduced in 2005, saw a steady increase in participants, leveling off just under 20 by 2020.

The map illustrates changes at Porth Harbor from the past to the present day.

It is evident that the harbor has undergone significant developments, shifting from primarily commercial fishing and limited private boating to predominantly recreational use.

Previously, there was a single dock in the northern part of the harbor, situated below a public beach extending further north. Today, while the beach remains unchanged, an additional dock has been constructed to accommodate passenger ferries. Moving south and west from the docks, there used to be a marina for private yachts, along with showers, toilets, and a car park connected to the main north-south road. Currently, the marina has been relocated to the immediate south, but the amenities and car park remain in place.

In the southwest section of the harbor, a new marina has replaced an open area for fishing boats. Adjacent to this marina are new showers and toilets, along with an existing second car park connected to the main road. On the eastern peninsula, where there was previously a lifeboat station and a private beach, there are now cafes, shops, and a smaller road leading to a newly built hotel at the easternmost point.

The diagram depicts the cyclical process of producing ethanol, a type of biofuel.

Overall, the biofuel production cycle involves three main stages: harvesting and pre-processing plant materials, chemically converting them into ethanol, and using the ethanol as fuel for transportation, after which the cycle repeats.

Initially, plants and trees grow by absorbing sunlight and carbon dioxide. Once mature, they are harvested and sent to a pre-processing machine that breaks them down to extract cellulose.

In the second stage, the cellulose is transported to a laboratory, where it undergoes chemical processing to convert it into sugars. Microbes are then added to the sugars to initiate fermentation, which produces ethanol.

The final stage involves using the ethanol as fuel for transportation, such as cars, trucks, and airplanes. When ethanol is used as fuel, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere and reabsorbed by plants and trees, perpetuating the cycle.

Cambridge 19 Test 4: MULTIPLE CHARTS

The pie chart shows the distribution of venues for dance classes, while the bar chart displays the participation of young individuals in three types of dance classes in a particular Australian town.

Overall, private studios are the most popular venues for dance classes, followed by school halls (after-school), community halls & other venues, and lastly, college-based studios. Additionally, more students under the age of 11 attend dance classes across all types compared to those aged 11-16, except for modern dance.

Regarding dance class venues, private studios dominate with 48% of classes held there, which is twice the proportion of classes in school halls. Nearly 20% of dance classes occur in community halls and other locations, while college-based studios are the least common, making up just 10% of the total.

In terms of dance class types, 600 children under 11 years old are enrolled in ballet, which is double the number of their 11-16-year-old counterparts. A similar trend is seen in tap dancing, though less pronounced, with approximately 450 younger students compared to 420 older students. This contrasts sharply with modern dance classes, where just over 500 students aged 11-16 participate, compared to only 300 younger students.

III. Tip tự học IELTS Writing tại nhà

1. Nắm được bố cục của một essay trong Task 1 và Task 2

Đầu tiên, hãy hiểu rõ cấu trúc và yêu cầu của cả Task 1 và Task 2. Task 1 thường yêu cầu bạn mô tả và phân tích dữ liệu từ biểu đồ, biểu đồ cột, biểu đồ hình tròn hoặc bản đồ.

Task 2 yêu cầu bạn viết một bài luận trả lời cho một câu hỏi hoặc thảo luận về một vấn đề nào đó.

Quan trọng nhất là bạn phải nắm được các yêu cầu của đề bài và biết cách trình bày bài sao cho đúng yêu cầu, không bị lạc đề.

2. Củng cố vốn từ vựng

Lúc này bạn nên tập trung vào việc mở rộng vốn từ vựng của mình. Bạn nên học từ vựng theo từng chủ đề cụ thể, chẳng hạn như các từ vựng liên quan đến Line Chart, Bar Chart, Map, Process/Diagram,... trong Task 1, và các chủ đề phổ biến như Environment, Education, Crime,... trong Task 2.

Việc này sẽ giúp bạn dễ dàng hơn trong quá trình ôn luyện và làm bài, khiến bài viết trở nên mạch lạc hơn và tiết kiệm thời gian tìm từ.

3. Học cách liên kết câu và kiến thức ngữ pháp cần thiết

Trong IELTS Writing, việc kết nối các câu một cách logic và mạch lạc là rất quan trọng để tạo ra một bài viết có cấu trúc rõ ràng và dễ hiểu.

Dưới đây là một số phương pháp bạn có thể sử dụng để liên kết các câu trong bài viết của mình:

• Sử dụng từ liên kết (linking words)
• Sử dụng câu phức
• Sử dụng câu song song
• Sử dụng đại từ thay thế

4. Nắm được cách xây dựng một essay hoàn chỉnh

Sau khi hiểu rõ bố cục của một bài luận chuẩn và trang bị kiến thức về từ vựng, cách liên kết và ngữ pháp cần thiết, bạn có thể bắt đầu viết một bài hoàn chỉnh.

5. Luyện đề

Hãy luôn kiên trì và tập trung luyện đề, vì đây là cách duy nhất giúp bạn đạt điểm cao trong phần thi IELTS Writing. Khi bạn đã tích lũy được vốn từ vựng phong phú và khả năng phân tích biểu đồ, việc luyện viết đề sẽ trở nên dễ dàng hơn. Chỉ cần kiên trì luyện tập, bạn sẽ cải thiện được tốc độ làm bài của mình.

Trong quá trình này, hãy rèn luyện kỹ năng paraphrase và học các cụm từ collocation để nâng cao chất lượng bài viết, từ đó đạt được điểm cao hơn. Đồng thời, các bài viết của bạn cũng nên được chấm chữa để xác định band điểm hiện tại, xem xét đạt đủ các tiêu chí chưa và sửa lỗi cần thiết.
